OWS Gets Funds, Gets Organized, Gets Infighting

OWS protesters have money woes — what to do with the steadily rolling in donations, and how to divvy up the funds among the different Occupy localities.  Recent tallies count the funds in the coffers anywhere from $400,000 to $500,000, with the majority coming from New Yorkers, but donors also representing more than 35 countries, with large donations coming from Finland and Canada.  According to HuffPo, efforts are underway to get 501(c)(3) charitable organization tax status.  Hopefully doing so will help bring a  bit of formality to the process of collecting and funneling funds.  It would be a smart move for a group whose fragmented causes are both its allure and, potentially, Achilles’ heel.
